Abstract
This study focused on the difference of sociability with the gender and birth order of qualified high school students of St. Jude College-Cavite. Purposive sampling was applied with 202 samples from the total population. Methodology: This research utilized two-way ANOVA to determine if there is a significant difference between sociability and gender; and if there is a significant difference between sociability and birth order. High school students aged 15-17 who are qualified for the researchers standards through the means of verbal questioning were asked to answer the Basic Personality Inventory (BPI) developed by Douglas N. Jackson (1997) to get their sociability level whether they are highly sociably or low. Conclusion: The researchers concluded that females are more sociable than males for the reason that they build a deeper friendship than the casual friendship that males do. This study also found out that birth order is not a significant determinant of sociability since it still depends on the other factors that affect the sociability of a child in any given birth vii De La Salle University – Dasmariñas rank. Lastly, gender and birth order have no significant interaction which means that male or female of any birth rank will not tell if the individual will be sociable or not. Recommendations: 1. Guidance counselors in institutions should provide a sociability test to their students so that they will be aware of their persona or self-awareness as an individual and they will be able to develop it in their own ways. 2. Social psychologists must organize an activity involving groups with individuals of different genders and birth rank to build up their interpersonal skills. In this way, they may cooperate and show their abilities in a certain activity while interacting with others in spite of their differences. This will also reflect on how individuals’ may affect one’s sociability. 3. Future researchers must use another test focusing on the sociability level of the respondents with levels such as low, average, and high. The test may also be categorized to children, adolescents, and adults. With this, it can be examined precisely the participants level of sociability.
