Abstract
This study was presented to design a computerized program which would give healthful advice on using herbal medicine for common skin diseases. VPExpert was used to design and develop the system. It is a software used as language in designing the system. This also used backward chaining in the evaluation of rules. The software was made to run in a DOS-based environment. After a careful analysis, the researcher therefore concludes that the study would be of great help to people experiencing skin problems because they could avail of herbal medicine treatment in a fast and easy way. On the other hand, SKNHERB, though conceived as a simulation of a human expert, is not a substitute for professional doctors particularly dermatologists but rather an aid in the field of dermatology, an aid that is accessible and practical. Wider study and analysis to develop the system was needed.
