Abstract

ABSTRACT The prior aim of this study is to know the perception of home of the ten (10) institutionalized children in Angels of Hope Inc. in Silang, Cavite. This study attempts to present the implication of the institutionalized children’s perception of home on program intervention. This case study used House-Tree-Person test and interviewed the participants to know their perception of home. Institutionalized children perceive home as a clean place where one lives along with the house parents whom they consider as their parents. However, they still believe that living with family would be better. Past experiences do affect the participants’ perception of home. There are two implications drawn from this research. These implications are: 1) difference of lifestyle before and after living inside the institution affecting their future status, and 2) past experiences of institutionalized children should be given due consideration in designing programs for them.
