What are the sexual expressions of the elderly homosexuals that have diminished through age? 4. What are the factors that caused the decline of sexual expressions? 5. What are the perceived implications of these diminished sexual expressions? SCOPE AND LIMITATION The study is designed to identify the diminishing sexual expressions of 8 elderly homosexuals. The study tackled three major variables specifically elderly, sexual expressions, and homosexuals. Elderly in the study ranged from 60 to 70 years old. This study only focused on male homosexuals. The sexual expressions pertain to autoeroticism and interpersonal sexuality. METHODOLOGY The research method used in this study is the Descriptive method specifically, case study. The study involved 8 participants with 10 minutes to half an hour tape recorded interviews with structured and open-ended questions. 8 homosexual men from sixty to seventy years old participated in the study. The participants were chosen through snowball sampling. The researchers arrived at this sampling method to come up with the group of best fitted participants for the research. Respondents came from different places including Batangas, Cavite and Metro Manila. The researchers devised structured and open – ended interview questions. The questions were designed to specifically target the topics raised in the statement of the problem. SUMMARY The results of the research primarily tackled the diminishing sexual expressions of the elderly homosexuals. The research yielded the following results: 1. The demographic profile of the respondents has direct implications for the decline of their sexual expressions. 2. The sexual expressions of homosexuals diminished through age. 3. Homosexuals have engaged in a variety of sexual expressions until their present age. 4. Aging entails secondary factors which widely affected the decline of their sexual patterns. CONCLUSIONS The research tackled the important points regarding the diminishing sexual expressions and its implications for elderly homosexuals recognized in the cases presented. Based on the data gathered the following conclusions were identified: 1. The sexual expressions of the elderly homosexuals decreased through age. 100% of the cases marked the diminishing sexual expressions at the age of 40- 50 or in their middle adulthood. 2. There are various forms of sexual expressions categorized from all 8 cases. The most prevalent were Masturbation, Foreplay, Oral Sex and Anal Sex. However not all of the respondents have engaged in similar sexual acts due to their preferences. 3. The respondents revealed that aging is the primary factor that caused their diminished sexual expressions. 4. Aging brought a diversity of secondary factors that contributed to the decrease of sexual expressions of the homosexuals in the cases. These include: Respondent’s Personal Choice, Social Status, Financial Stability, Concepts of Morality, Sexual Actualization, and Physiological and Health Issues. 5. The implications of these diminished sexual expressions did not widely affect the totality of the person. Nevertheless, the decline of sexual expressions if not whole heartedly accepted may result in various negative implications emotionally and psychologically. RECOMMENDATIONS Based on the findings of the study, the following are recommended: 1. According to the research, homosexuals who made use of their sexual expressions when they were younger have greater chances of becoming more v actualized. Therefore it is recommended that the homosexuals continue to be more expressive with their sexual expressions as it is understood as a prerogative of any living individual regardless of one’s sexual orientation and also as part of one’s physiological need. However, they should be aware of the possible consequences of these. 2. Given the fact that the research was done as a case study, limited data and numbers of respondents comprise the research. Faculty should come up with an intergenerational study that will encompass different generations of homosexuals in order to yield a wider range of data 3. Micro data was gathered in the case study consisting of 8 respondents from Region IV and NCR. In this light, future researchers, should conduct a comparative study between and among regions locally or internationally regarding the diminishing sexual expressions of the homosexuals for more extensive and macro level of research. 4. The study concerning the diminished sexual expressions of elderly homosexuals were painstakingly studied and given a variety of explanations in terms of proper categorization. However, to acquire substantial data, an understandable study was considered, that of the case study. Based on the results gathered from the study, the researchers recommend the study to the researchers themselves to enjoy more our God given privileges that of the sexual expressions as young as our youth at present, to become more vi educated, prepared and be more appreciative of one’s self and body despite the inevitable progression of aging. 5. The sampling method utilized in the study was snowball sampling. Moreover, limitations of the study included possible respondents housed in the institution that may have experienced similar dilemma toward aging. The researchers recommend the institutions catering to elderly homosexuals to design various programs dealing with aging awareness featuring lectures about sexual expressions. Furthermore, education for the elderly homosexuals regarding current issues such as social stigma, discrimination and sexually transmitted diseases can also be discussed. 6. The respondents of the research need love and belongingness as they enter the later years. The researchers recommend the families of the elderly homosexuals to be supportive and understanding about the transitions and adjustments they undergo in line with the decline of their sexual expressions and aging.
