Abstract
Abstract NAME OF INSTITUTION: De La Salle University – Dasmariñas ADDRESS: Cavite, Las Piñas, Laguna TITLE: IMPLICATIONS OF ATTACHMENT STYLES TO FEAMLE SAMESEX RELATIONSHIP AUTHORS: Ravel Lynn S. Abundo Jizzan Eldmund C. Dela Cruz Diane L. Diana FUNDING SOURCE: Parents COST: Php 6,500 DATE STARTED: June, 2007 DATE COMPLETED: February, 2008 OBJECTIVEOF THE STUDY: General The purpose of the present study was to find the probable reasons of how early attachment of the six (6) participants affects female same-sex relationship. SCOPE AND LIMITATION The study utilized six (6) respondents: three (3) couples from selected places in Metro Manila, Cavite and Laguna. Their ages range from 18 years old and above. Some of the participants are acquaintances of the researchers and of other participants. The study focused on the influences of early attachment in female same-sex relationship. The study was limited only to answers obtained from the women engaged in homosexual relationship as subject of the case study. METHODOLOGY The six (6) selected females who engage in same-sex relationship with ages 18 years old and above from selected places in Metro Manila, Cavite and Laguna were the participants of the study and were chosen through referral from the researchers’ friends and common acquaintances. The self-made interview guide was used in this case study. The analyses were based on the answers given by the participants, and were contentanalyzed by the researchers per case. CONCLUSION Nowadays, engaging in same-sex relationship is getting rampant. Young people are more open about same-sex relationship but the older ones are still against it. The attachment style given to the participants by their primary caregiver greatly affected their personality. The answers of the respondents revealed their liberated way of thinking in the said topic. They showed how responsible they are and how they take care of the choice they have made and the consequences that might happen. In answering the sets of questions, the respondents showed that early attachments have something to do with being a homosexual. The relationship within the family is a great factor on what one will be in the future. Two out of six (2/6) respondents told the researchers that they have a close relationship with their father. And the rest have conflicts with them. Research Recommendation The following are the methods the researchers would like future investigators to focus their attention to. 1. Future researchers should try to create questions that could really answer the points they are very eager to know. 2. Other techniques must be conceptualized to ascertain the answers and reaction of the respondents presented by the researchers. 3. Prospective respondents could be encouraged to participate in followup or group interviews for thorough interpretation and analysis. 4. The respondent’s age, environment, nature, mood and disposition must be analyzed to expand the generalizability of the case presented. 5. Parenting style should be well observed to see how it affects an individual’s outlook about homosexuality.
