Abstract

The researchers determined the anuran species richness in the remaining forest fragments of Barangay Cabangaan, Silang, Cavite. The researchers also performed toe clipping procedure to detect presence of the chytrid fungus on eight different anuran species found in the study area. Toe clips were prepared using standard histopathological slide preparation technique and hematoxylin and eosin (H and E) staining was employed. A total of eight anuran species were recorded from this forest fragment. Of the 38 prepared slides (from eight species), none showed zoosporangia, discharge tubules, and zoospores which could indicate presence of the chytrid fungus. Result indicates that the eight anuran species from the forest fragments are not infected with chytridiomycosis.
