Abstract

The ovicidal effect of the fruit hull and seeds of Sandoricum koetjape Merr. (Santol) was tested on the hatchability of Ascaris suum. Both fruit parts (fruit hull and seeds) arrested A. suum ova from hatching with a mean of 18.25 and 17.75, respectively. It was also confirmed that the fruit hull and fruit seed have the same ovicidal effect as in Albendazole on A. suum (p>0.05). This implies that the fruit hull and fruit seed of S. koetjape are potential ovicidal drugs against A. suum. Extraction of active compounds found in S. koetjape can be done for further analysis of proteins which may be developed to new ovicidal drugs.
