Abstract

This study focused on the agglutinating and hemolytic effects of Eclipta alba and Coleus blumei leaf extracts on the different human blood types. The results were compared to determine which of the two extracts was effective. This study used 10 treatments with three replicates in each. Blood samples were collected from 24 individuals, 3 for each blood type (A, B, AB, O). This experiment consisted of two tests for the two plant extracts; the first test was the hemagglutination test, which determined their agglutinating properties. The second test was the hemolysis test for their hemolytic properties. Findings revealed that both T1 and T5 showed the most effective in Blood agglutination. No hemolysis was observed and blood Type O showed the fastest time of agglutination while blood Type AB showed the slowest. Since it showed that the effect of the E. alba and C. blumei leaf extracts was only hemagglutination, the researchers conclude that both can be used as medicinal plants for wound healing.
