ABSTRACT Name of Institution: De La Salle University-Dasmariñas Address: Dasmariñas, Cavite Title: A Phenomenological Study of the Life Purpose of Taong Grasa Researchers: Karen M. Bolante Rogelio Galileo F. Magallanes Jr. Funding Source: Parents Cost: Php 6,210 Date Started: July 2006 Date Finished: February 2007 Objective of the Study: A. General Objective This study aims to experience and explore the world of Taong Grasa. B. Specific Objective This study aims to know the answer if despite their situation they still build or have Purpose in Life. Scope and Coverage: The scope of the study delineates on the characteristics, views and beliefs and the life purpose of the Taong Grasa, their perceptions that acquired from their experiences, including those before 2 they acquired the illness. The researchers choose that Taong Grasa found on streets and institutions within the province of Cavite specifically Damariñas, Imus and Trece. The researcher will disregard the participants that cannot understand and seem to be very mentally ill. They may not help the study to be possible. Other possible subjects were disregarded such as Bums, Prostitutes and street children, the researchers will only focus on the Taong Grasa. Methodology: This paper is a Phenomenological study. Specifically, the descriptive method is used to describe the Phenomena of Taong Grasa. Findings: Based on the results rendered in this study, their past life/experiences had a great effect on their present condition. Conclusion: The Isolation, Rejection, and Discrimination are the factors that they experience and feel to people. This somehow led them to create a world of their own. Recommendation: The study was recommended for the researchers, psychologist, guidance counselor, family members, parents, mothers, fathers, and daughters. The paper may aid them to have a better understanding on the Phenomenon of Taong Grasa.
