Abstract

This study was conducted primarily to determine the factors that contribute to a person becoming a male prostitute, with the data gathered about their personality and beliefs that contribute to their totality and further understand why they stay as one. On the basis of gathered data and information resulting from this study, the following revealed : 1. The personality profile of these male prostitutes are the same with the other male prostitutes in this area in terms of beliefs and principles. 2. They become male prostitutes because of the pressures brought about by their personal problems. 3. There is an alarming threat for them to become infected by the diseases from sexual activities 4. The coping mechanisms available to them are reaction formation and rationalization. Based on the careful analysis of the data and information gathered, it was revealed that: 1. they remain to be male prostitutes because of their financial needs to support themselves 2. that they are aware of the fact that they are being neglected by the people as part of the society Based on the findings and conclusions, the researcher would like to make these recommendations as the ideal course of action in order to solve male prostitution if not entirely eliminate it: The family, relatives, and friends must support him during this transition. They must also give him the love and understanding for him to feel that he is a needed and important member of his family. For the government, to lift the standard of living and create new jobs for the people with low qualifications. For the Catholic church, to give these people the spiritual enlightenment to bring back their faith in God.
