Abstract
This descriptive study was conducted to evaluate the Catholicity of the Selected Diocesan High Schools in Cavite as the basis for a plan of action. Stufflebeam’s CIPP (context, input, process, product) evaluation model was used. It utilized the triangulation method which made use of a survey questionnaire, interviews and documentary analysis. Purposive sampling was used and 49% of the population of the fourth year students and teachers were used as the respondents. This study answered the following specific questions: 1. Is there an alignment of the school’s vision-mission to the Cavite Diocese Parochial Schools Association (CADIPSA) vision-mission? 2. What is the perception of the students and the teachers of the selected diocesan high schools about their school’s Catholicity? 3. Is there a significant difference between the perception of the students and the perception of the teachers of the selected diocesan high schools about their school’s Catholicity in terms of : 4. How can Religion as the Core of the Curriculum (RCC) be implemented in the teaching of the various subjects? Findings from the study showed that: 1. The selected diocesan high schools’ vision-missions are aligned with the vision-mission of CADIPSA. 2. The students and teachers of the selected diocesan schools in Cavite perceived their school’s Catholicity as evident. 3. At .05 level of significance, ANOVA test found that the computed f value of 4.776275 is greater than the critical value of f which is 4.170877. which means that the respondents’ perception significantly differed. Based on this study, it is recommended that: 1. There is a need to orient and re-orient the school community about the uniqueness of the Catholic school culture. Vatican II, PCP II and NCDP are just a few of the Church documents that can be of help to all the CADIPSA member schools. 2. Catholicity of instruction should not be a separate entity from instruction. CADIPSA should stress the value of the RCC, thus carry it out in all learning aspects. 3. The faith-life of the school personnel should be formed and strengthened so they can help create a culture of witnessing. 4. CADIPSA should continue guiding its members to attain a consistent Catholic character of the parochial schools. Special guidance and help should be given to those schools which are relatively new. 5. CEAP or CADIPSA should come up with textbooks that employ the teaching of various subjects in the light of the RCC.
