Abstract
The study focused on the population density, diversity, and diet preferences of lizards in Amuyong, Alfonso, Cavite. Line transect sampling (100m) from August to December 2010 were conducted. The researchers were able to document 15 lizard individuals. There were 5 species identified: Sphenomorphus jagori, Brachymeles talinis, Brachymeles boulengeri, Cyrtodactylus Philippinicus, Gekko mindorensis. All the species were also known to be Philippines endemic. The lizards collected were identified to be insectivores. The diversity of lizards was determined at 1.32 with Hmax value of 1.94 using the Shannon Diversity Index. The percentage of computed evenness of lizards in the study area was 96%. The diet of observed lizards on the area is composed of 40% ant prey items and the remaining is composed of other insects like beetle, mantis, termites, cockroach, centipede, and arachnids like spiders.
