Abstract
The objective of this study is primarily to determine whether Adler’s view that birth order affects one’s development holds true among the respondents in this study. Likewise, it tries to find out if birth order has any influence on one’s personality among the upland dwellers of Cavite. The study was conducted in the upland areas of Cavite specifically in the towns of Alfonso, Tagaytay and Silang. The instruments used in the study were the Demographic Questionnaire and 16 Personality Factor Test to measure the participants’ personality characteristics that could possibly be attributable to their birth ordinal position. Spearman’s Rank Correlation Coefficient or Spearman Rho was used in analyzing the test results which is a nonparametric measure of statistical dependence between two variables. Based on the Primary Factors as well as Global Factors, results show that there is no significant relationship between birth order and personality since Spearman’s Correlation Coefficient has a p-value greater than 0.05. This shows that the birth order is not a factor in identifying the personality of the respondents.
