Abstract
The study was focused in water quality. It aimed to verify the effectiveness of Aquatabs for the destruction and removal of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa from water, identify unsafe water consequences and to know if there were significant differences in the parameters of the untreated water and the water disinfected with Aquatabs. Because of lack of apparatus needed to test for water's turbidity, total hardness, odor and color, these parameters were tested at SGS Philippines, Inc., Makati City last May 2, 1997 and September 26, 1997. Based on the results, slight changes had been observed upon the disinfections of Aquatabs. This indicated that the tablets were applicable to certain properties such as bacteria reduction in the Dilution Method and Spread Plate Method and acidity since higher values were obtained. The pH was also a good indicator of disinfections since no bacteria can survive in an acidic pH value.
