Abstract

Lahar samples taken from Bacolor Pampanga were used in this experiment to see the effect of different organic fertilizers on the vegetative growth of corn. The different organic fertilizers were chicken manure, commercial organic fertilizer, and fresh azolla, 20 g each were applied on lahar soil. The complete fertilizer (14-14-14), inorganic fertilizer served as the control. Three corn seeds were planted on each black polyethylene bag. The effect of the different fertilizers used was measured on the following parameters namely the height of the corn plant, the number of leaves, the dry weight and the length of the longest leaf. The experiment lasted for three months. The study showed that the use of different organic fertilizers had a significant effect on the height of the plant, number of leaves, length of the longest leaf and dry weight. The control treatment, complete fertilizer (14-14-14) showed the best response on the vegetative growth of corn plant. It was followed by the second treatment which was the Commercial Organic Fertilizer, producing an average number of leaves. Lastly, the third treatment, Azolla gave the lowest responses among the treatments.
