Abstract

Abstract The general objective of the study was to determine the implication of attitudes and motivations of youth with massive body piercing on their interpersonal relationship. The participants of the study were youth with massive body piercing and were selected non randomly using the following criteria, a. must have 6 or more body piercing, b. the respondents must be 18-26 years old, c. the respondents are living in manila. The study used the descriptive research method. The respondents were chosen through purposive sampling and were chosen based on referral by sources that affiliated them. Three instruments are were used in this research. The researchers used a validated interview guide for this study. Aside from the interview guide, the researchers used two projective tests; PUP (Panukat ng Ugali at Pagkatao) and Sach Sentence Completion test. Hence, this tool helped in determining the attitudes and interpersonal relationship of the respondents. The researchers seek respondents with massive body piercing and build rapport to them. The researchers then ask permission if they can have an initial interview with the respondents based on their free time. Thus, inform the respondents about the purpose and aim of the study and get their demographic profile. Two (2) projective test will be administered. Analyses of data were based on the results of the two projective test and the open-ended questions. The researchers analyzed the materials and came up with the result of the study. The previous research materials were utilized to deepen and strengthen the study. It was revealed that attitudes and motivations of the respondents has an effect on their interpersonal relationship. The attitude of the respondents having massive body piercing has a poor interpersonal relationship with their families, on authority figures and other people in the society/community. The respondents showed a better interpersonal relationship with their friends because they have similar attitudes and understand one another because all of them are also having piercing and their source of motivational factor in having massive body piercing was basically the influence of their friends.
