Abstract

ABSTRACT Most of the people today has taken for granted living in the present and preoccupying themselves with the worries for the future and regrets from the past. Mindfulness is the key factor in savoring and appreciating the present moment without judgment. According to Psychology Today (2012), mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When a person is mindful, s/he observes his/her thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them if they are good or bad. Instead of letting life pass by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience. In this study the researchers explained mindfulness using the focused group discussion participants. Self awareness is the first step to reaching mindfulness, a deeper appreciation of the present moment.
