Abstract

General 1. To provide knowledge and understanding about single women who are engaging in a relationship outside of marriage. B. Specific 1. What is the demographic profile of the respondent in terms of: 1.1.1 Age 1.1.2 educational status 1.1.3 economic status 1.1.4 living arrangement 1.1.5 religious affiliation 2. What are the factors that influence the respondent to engage in a relationship outside of marriage? 3. What are the problems encountered by the respondent? 4. What are the coping mechanisms of the respondent? Scope and Limitation The main concern of this study is to know the factors that motivated single women to engage in a relationship outside of marriage. Problems that the participants encountered their coping mechanism, as well as their attitudes towards their relationship will be determined. The study utilizes 10 respondents from different places in cavite. Their age ranges from 18 years old and above. The respondents were selected through referrals of residents of cavite. The study was limited only to the answers obtained from 10 single women engaged in a relationship outside of marriage as subject of the study. Moreover, findings will be taken only from the respondents‘ responses from the interview which will be conducted by the researchers. Research Methodology This study used descriptive research design specifically the case study method. The personal information sheet and interview was used as the main data gathering instrument for this study the interview consisted of open-ended questions. the interview proper were conducted at the house of the respondents for them to feel more safe and comfortable, and to assume to them also the confidentiality of their answers in the interview. The answers of the respondents represent the degree of agreement. The personalized table was used to interpret the total answers of all the respondents. Conclusions Based on the results, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. All the single women are Roman Catholic. The age of the single women ranges from 20-25 are 60% and 26-30 are 40%. Based on the profile presented 60% of the single women could be categorized in their young adulthood. Regarding the educational background of the respondents 40% of the single women are high school graduate while 50% of the respondents are college graduate and the other 10% is a college undergraduate. In terms of their living arrangement 60% of them were still living with their biological family while the 10% respondents were product of a broken family that is why she is living alone. 20% of the respondents were products of a broken family that is why they are living with their aunt and 10% of the respondents were also a product of broken family but she lives with her mother. 40% of the respondents are not living with their biological family that‘s why single women tend to engaged in this kind of relationship because of vulnerability or being alone they are attracted to the men who are willing to give everything to them compared to the single men. 50% of the single women were categorized as behavior- focused because this factor is cause by the environment such as the community and peer pressure. One respondent said that he lives in a place where single women are also engage in a relationship outside of marriage that‘s why the respondent thought that having a relationship outside of marriage is not bad. 30% of the respondents were categorized as emotion- focused. This factor explains respondent‘s relationship with the family. One respondent is looking for a father figure that‘s why the respondent wants a man who is mature. One respondent said that she is alone and lonely with her life while one respondent said that his partner becomes the partner of her auntie so the respondent thinks that having relationship with the married man is right. 10% of the respondents were categorized into cognitive. This is caused by their financial problem the respondents think that having relationship with the married and rich man is the answer to her financial needs. Based on the study, the factors that influence most to the single women to engage in a relationship outside of marriage were peer pressure and family, the researcher therefore conclude that the environment has a big role in molding and building a humans attitude, personality, and even their lifestyle as well. 2. 70% of the respondents encounter the problem of Disclosure which means that respondents hide or do not reveal their relationship to their parents and relatives. 20% of the respondents were categorized into the problem of Confrontation such as the 3. respondent encountered confronted by the legal wife. 10% of the respondents do not encounter any problem regarding their relationship, which were classified as Acceptance. Based on the study, the problems that the single women encountered are hiding their relationship to their family and confronting the legal wife. It says single women are fighter and used to challenges. 4. 60% of the respondents are classified into Cognitive – Focused 30% of the respondents were classified as Affect – Focused 10% of the respondent is classified as Behavior -- Focused. Based on the study, most of the respondents learned to avoid any problems they encountered. Some said they redirect and focus their attention in on the other thing. One out of ten respondents learns to rationalize their situation.
