Abstract

ABSTRACT This research entitled “Psychological Preparedness of Family-Based Filipino Caregivers…”aimed to measure the psychological preparedness of informal caregivers who did not undergo such training, unlike formal caregivers who enrolled in caregiving school. The said respondents were five informal caregivers who were referred by the researchers’ friends and who are currently handling and have handled people with Alzheimer’s. This study used the purposive sampling which entails the use of the most reliable persons who have enough knowledge or who have experienced the subject matter. The researchers made of use of three research instruments, such as the sentence completion test, structured interview and observations which were all formulated by the researchers and were validated by three people from the Behavioral Sciences Department of De La Salle- University Dasmariñas. In the said study, the researchers presented the data from the five respondents using their demographic profile and psychological preparedness in terms of their knowledge, skills and abilities that were also presented in the respondents’ case history.
