What is the extent of effectiveness of Christian Psychology Integrated through Counseling in enhancing the following factors? 3.1. View of Self 3.2. Interpersonal Relationship 3.3. Spiritual Aspect Scope and Limitation This research focused on extent of effectiveness of Christian psychology Integrated through Counseling in the Philippine Missionary Institute, Silang. Since all the students will become part of the study then, the result of the study could represent the perception of Philippine Missionary Institute regarding Christian theology. Furthermore, this research aims to inform but not to impose the used of Christian psychology. The scope of the study is limited to the discussion of Christian psychology in relation to counseling, including the brief history, its foundation, application, benefits of applying it, and the issues surrounding Christian psychology that would justify its consistency in different views of authorities. ix Methodology The researchers employed the descriptive study design. It provides useful insights regarding the extent of Christian Psychology. Furthermore, the five factors (View of Self, Interpersonal Relationship, Cognitive, Affective and Spiritual Aspect) that indicate its effectiveness among the PMI theology students. Looking at the demographic profile, specialization of students and how Christian Psychology is enhanced in the five factors. 100 theology students of PMI were the respondents of the study. The respondents were chosen through universal sampling. The instrument used in the study is self-made test entitled “Christian Psychology Effectiveness Test”, which is composed of 30 questions. 6 questions per factor. Summary of the Findings 1. The demographic profile of the theology students There are 100 theology students in Philippine Missionary Institute, Silang, Cavite. The researchers used universal sampling method. Their ages ranged from 16-20 (41), 21-25 (26), 26-30 (20), 31-35(4), 36-40 (6) and 41-59 (3). 52 of the respondents are male and 48 are female. In terms of year-level, 36% belonged to 1st year, 25% belonged to 3rd year, 20% belonged to 2nd year and 19% belonged to 4th year. 2. The specification of the theology students x There are four specifications in which 59% belonged to Christian Education, 26% belonged to Pastoral Studies, 9% belongs to Church Music and 6% belonged to Inter-Cultural Studies. 3. The extent of effectiveness of Christian Psychology Integrated through Counseling in enhancing the following factors In general Christian Psychology is Moderately Effective (x=23.60). in a specific areas, Christian Psychology is Highly Effective in the area of enhancing Interpersonal Relationship (25.31) and View of Self (24.71). it is Moderately Effective in improving Spiritual Aspect (23.03), Affective Aspect (33.64) and Cognitive Aspect scored lowest (22.27). Conclusion Based on the findings of the study, it could be concluded that: 1. Majority of the respondents are male. In terms of year-level and age majority of the respondents are first-year and ranging from 16-20, that is 41%. 2. Christian Education in terms of Specification garnered the highest score of 59%. For the lowest score Inter-cultural studies attained the score of 9%. 3. Christian Psychology is highly effective in enhancing Interpersonal Relationship and View of Self. It is moderately effective in enhancing the Spiritual Aspect, Affective Aspect and Cognitive Aspect. In general, Christian Psychology is moderately effective. xi Recommendations Based on the findings of the study, the following are recommendations by the researchers: 1. Administrators of such schools should continue using Christian Psychology in their subjects. Efforts, however, are needed to enhance the way it is presented to the students. They should make sure that the students understand and recognize the distinctive mark of Christian psychology. 2. Other Bible schools should value Christian Psychology and take it to be a part of their program. 3. Teachers and the guidance counselor should coordinate with each other regarding the concerns, grasp and progress of their students in dealing with Christian Psychology. 4. The school should assess their curriculum in how they could improve the use of Christian Psychology especially in the spiritual, affective and cognitive aspect. 5. There should be further programs to fully equip those counselors and professors who use Christian Psychology in their method of teaching. 6. To conduct intensive research in which there would be more participants and would consider the year-level of the respondents. 7. Future researchers should use this paper as for future reference and further research in the area of new ways of doing psychology.
