April Fatima Bohol Mayflor Gamboa Funding source: Parents and Personal Allowance Cost: P 15,000 Date Started: July 2006 Date Finished: March, 2007 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY GENERAL To assess the need of offering Inclusion of Sex Education as a subject in in High School Curriculum. 4 SPECIFIC This study aims to know the Perception of a Senior High School Student about the Inclusion of Sex Education in their curriculum. Specifically, it explore the following question: 1. The Demographic profile of respondent a. Age b. Religion c. Gender 2. What is the importance of sex education regarding the inclusion as perceived of the despondent? 3. What is the perception of the respondent regarding the inclusion of Sex Education in High School Curriculum? SCOPE AND LIMITATION: This study focused on the assessment of the needs in offering Inclusion of Sex Education in High school student as Curriculum; Perception of a Senior High student. The study used of 150 students of Dasmariñas West National High School (SY 2006-2007). METHODOLOGY: The descriptive- survey research method was utilized in this study to collect all the needed information on the perception of Senior High School student about the inclusion of sex education in their Curriculum. This study will utilized the descriptive test of independence type of research. The test of independence will be studied and be summarized the data that was gathered in the experimental and determined the relationship between the two variables in the study. A total of 150 senior high school Student of Dasmariñas West National High School Student were the selected respondent –through the purposive sampling technique for this study. Two validated a self made questionnaires had been use to be able to fully measure the importance and the perception about Sex Education of senior high school Student as well to determine their profile to the following demographics: Age, Religion, and Gender. The Frequency, Percentage and Ranking were used among the descriptive Survey, the researcher used, for the analysis of gathered data. It involves description; analysis of interpretation of the data from the participants chosen and it also involved comparing of the two variables. It since the study seeks to justify and classify the perception of students about sex education. Findings: After thoroughly studying the variables, the following results were derived: 1. Majority of the respondents is 33.33 % are between the age range of 17.82 respondents is 54.66% are male; 119 respondents is 79.33 are catholic. 2. Most of the Senior High school student are aware in the importance of the Inclusion of Sex Education in their curriculum gathering the frequency of 135 out of 150 respondent. And about their perception they are in favor to include in their curriculum, Sex education gathering the 88 frequency out of 150 respondent. 3. There is a significant relationship between the perceptions of senior high school Student about the inclusion of sex education in their curriculum and the demographic variables, with that of the relatedness if they are agree in inclusion of sex education. Conclusion: After the researchers carefully scrutinized each and every data gathered, the following conclusions were made: 1. The researchers conclude that having sex education in the curriculum for High School student is important especially for the girls so that they can avoid teenage pregnancy, abortion, sexually transmitted disease and premarital sex. 2. Inclusion of Sex Education received the highest score. This means that the participant is in favor of Inclusion of Sex Education. They see that it is really necessary of them to be aware on Sex education. 3. Most of the participant now the different kind of contraceptive especially the pills and condom but they are not familiar in diaphragm and Interstitial Device. 4. Majority of the respondent think that teaching sex education will benefit most of the teenagers. Recommendation: Based on the conclusion, The following recommendations were drawn. 1. The researchers would like to recommend that there should be further studies to be done to establish cause-effect relationship on the topic. 2. There should also be the correct style of teaching on how the Sex Education be fully more understood by the student. 3. It is also to recommend that the student need the help of their teachers and family to guide them and to help them to understand and to enhance their knowledge and skills about sex. 4. The researchers recommend a continued study using different research research design, specially the correction research design. 5. The researchers also recommend to add more female respondent 6. That the respondent must be to included all level of high school student as being participant/ respondents. 7. Future researcher should conduct more extensive study for a more generalized result so as to broader the knowledge and awareness of the reader.
