Abstract

The study determines and measures the presence of an antibacterial property of "kalit-kalit" on Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Echerichia coli. Extracts were produced from the Cayratia jussieu (kalit-kalit) using 89% ethyl alcohol (alcohol extracts) for the cultures of Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtillis and Echerichia coli using the filter-disc method. The Brain-Infusion Agar was used in the preparation of the media. Zones of inhabitation were measured using the vernier caliper. Based on the results, the author concluded that Cayratia jussieu stem extract contains antibacterial property and has the same potency effect against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Echerichia coli.
