Abstract

This study focused on the survey of rodents found at Mt. Paly-palay/ Mataas na Gulod National Park. The survey was concentrated near the foot of the mountain at approximately 200-500 m above sea level. At this altitude rodents are expected to abound. Traps used for rodents were snap traps and live traps. Collection was done for a total of 185 trap nights. Baits used include coconut meat coated with peanut butter and dried fish. It was found out that the species of rat inhabiting the area was Rattus tanezumi only. Failure to collect other rats could be attributed to the unpredictable weather condition and the altitude from where traps were set.
