Abstract

ABSTRACT Name of the Institution: De La Salle University – Dasmarinas Address: DBB-B City of Dasmariñas, Cavite Title: The Impact of Stroboscopic Ambience on Iconic Memory among 1st Year HRM Students of DLSUD Authors: Matinazad, Melisa R., Valones, Lea Marie R., Masangkay, Jasmin B. Funding Source: Parents Cost: 10,000 Php Date Started: June 2012 Date Finished: March 2013 The primary purpose of this research contributes in further verifying that modulated light serves as a catalyst to an individual’s cognitive abilities by determining that stroboscopic ambience does in fact improve the iconic memory of an individual. A true experimental design, with empirical findings based upon the scores from the mean scores and t-test scores of a self-made Iconic Facial Recognition Test (iFART) under controlled lighting environments within 2 iv De La Salle University - Dasmariñas groups of 20. Concluding that there is a significant difference between the posttest mean scores of the experimental and control group. The experimental group’s post-test mean score (9.5) was significantly higher than the control group’s posttest mean score (8.85), t (38) = -2.1251, p < .05. The decision is to reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis. The computed effect size (r) is of medium range with a value of 0.3185.
