Abstract

ABSTRACT Name of Institution: De La Salle University - Dasmarinas Address: Bagong Bayan, Dasmarinas City Cavite Title: Social Skills Uncovered: A Case Study on the Social Skills of Gifted Children Authors: Janine Clarisse M. Chico Joanne Claudine M. Chico Pamela Ann S. Formento Christine Joy B. Limbo Funding Source: Parents Cost: Php 15000 Date Started: June 2012 Date Finished: March 2013 This study sought to determine the social skills of the gifted children on four domains namely; friendship, play, empathy and leadership. In order to obtain a comprehensive data, descriptive case study was used. Data was acquired through an observation checklist and interview with ten gifted children from Imus Pilot Elementary School, together with their parents and teacher. Results De La Salle University - Dasmariñas revealed that gifted children can get along well and form new friendship with children of different ages. In addition, gifted children do not just limit themselves to mental games, hence, they enjoy playing physical games. They have the capacity and are knowledgeable in taking the role as a leader. It was also concluded that they have the ability to understand and feel for another person’s concerns.
