Abstract

This study sought to determine the relationship between birth order and other correlates to attitudes towards altruism. This study was confined to 418 gradeschoolers from Cavite. Methodology This study utilized a correlation research design through cluster sampling technique while the correlation method was used in the analysis of data. Major Findings 1. The respondents obtained a mean score of 77.09 which can be classified as to having high level of attitudes towards altruism. 2. The correlation between birth order and attitudes towards altruistic obtained a significant value of 0.288. 3. The correlation between the correlates age and level of academic performance and the attitudes towards altruistic obtained significant values of 0.124 and 0.257. Conclusions Based on the findings, the researchers concluded that the following data seem to prove that: 1. Most respondents obtained a high level of attitudes towards altruistm. 2. There is significant relationship between birth order and attitudes towards altruism. 3. There is significant relationship between the other correlates and attitude towards altruism. Recommendations The researchers recommend the following: Future Researchers. Addition of other correlates in the study of altruism should enhance the research of this concept. Guidance Counserlors. The development of a guidance program culminating the findings of this research should improve treatment and management of children under different birth orders, ages and level of academic performance. Parents and School Teachers. An extensive study exploring altruism and birth order of children is highly suggested.
