Abstract

De Castro Patrick N. Lamoste Gil Lester Peregrino Funding Source: Parents Cost: Php 10,000.00 Date Started: July 2006 Date Finished: February 2007 Objective of the Study: A. General Objective This study aims to know how parenting style and negative life events molds convicted murderers. B. Specific Objective This paper aims to identify the role of parenting style that the convicted murderers have undergone during childhood and to uncover their past negative life events that could be reason for them to commit murder. Scope and Coverage: The Researchers have been given five Respondents whose age range from 30 – 60 and was imprisoned for more than 6 years. Methodology: This paper is a descriptive study. Specifically, the case study method is used to describe the parenting style and negative life events that could mold convicted murderers. The Respondents for the study was given through random sampling by the NBP Superintendent. Findings: Based on the results rendered in this study, the parenting style that a convicted murderer have undergone during childhood and their negative life events is one of the driving factors for them to commit murder. Conclusion: The parenting style and negative life events have influenced convicted murderers for their crime. Recommendation: The study was recommended for the future researchers, the media, teachers, guidance counselors, forensic psychologist, criminal lawyers, and family members.
