Abstract

Valuable studies on anger management are very accessible today but all of which focused on children, adolescents, and workers in general. None of these studies address the anger management strategies of yayas particularly the young adult ones. The researchers believe this is an interesting study that has to be shared with everyone. Workers normally feel angry due to their personal concerns regarding their duties. Yayas need to manage their anger very well. They ought to bring lots of patience because the children under their care are younger than them. This research aims to identify anger management strategies of yayas by discovering their experiences over the years of work, identifying their relationship with their employers, and determining discipline implemented among the children. Qualitative research interview was used to collect original data from a sample of 20 yayas who have at least 2 years of work experience as such. The sample includes those who live in Cavite and are at the ages of 20-40 years old. The children that they are taking care of are at the ages of 3-8 years old. Yayas have shared how their work honed them as an individual. Yayas believe that they need to approach the children in a nice way. Shouting at them will not motivate the children but will instead aggravate their wrong deeds. They also added that violence will not solve the problem. It was identified that employers do impose policies that the yayas should adhere to. These employer’s policies reminded them of their duties and so does not trigger anger among them. Thus, it works as their anger management strategies. Researchers believe that this study will help young adult yayas to manage their anger that they normally experience at work. In the employer’s side, they will have extra ideas on how they will approach their employees well.
