Abstract

To learn and understand the behavior of the elderly toward sexuality, for the society to adapt to the behavior of the elderly toward sexuality. SCOPE AND COVERAGE: Feelings, views and attitudes of the elderly living in Poblacion, Dasmarinas, Cavite. METHDOLOGY: The study used a descriptive type of research design, The interview guide used was a structred interview type. MAJOR FINDIGS: The subjects perceived that sexuality remains to be a part of life regardless of age and that there is no cut off age in sexual expression. They felt that sex is an important part of marriage which should remain forever. CONCLUSIONS: The following conclusions were drawn based on : 1. That sexual expression persisted even in later life, and that it whould not be seen as shameful but should be treated as anormal functioning of man. 2. That streotyped beliefs on sex and sexual expression should not be limited to the young. 3. That sex should be considered as an important aspect in the stability of later marriage life. 4. That health, lost of spouse, stereotype beliefs and quality of marriage were the primary causes of sexual problems. RECOMMENDATIONS: The researchers recommended the following: 1. Further research on sexuality in old age should be undertaken, increasing the number of subjects and come up with a larger profile of the subjects involved. 2. The relationship between the elderly's perception of sexuality and their religious affiliation can be a subject of inquiry. 3. The relationship between the elderly's of sexuality and quality of marriage be further tackled on their implications. 4. A study on the elderly from the lower income group be conducted in order to obtain view and insights regarding sex and sexuality.
