Abstract

To be able to know the effect of marital separation on the psychosocial adjustment of selected students of St. Benedict's College. To know the profile of the respondents according to sex age and socio-economic level To know the level os psychosocial adjustment of the respondents. To know if there are any significant differences in psychosocial adjustment when the respondents are grouped according to : a) sex b) Age SCOPE AND COVERAGE The study focused only on the effects of marital separation on the psychosocial adjustments by selected students of the said institution. The respondents ranged from first to third year students. METHODOLOGY This study used the descriptive research design in determining the pscyosocial adjustment of the student - respondents. The statistical tool used was the test. MAJOR FINDINGS 1) Based on the result of the profile of the respondents, there were 169 male respondents and 155 female students. While there were 102 who belonged to the age bracket of 12-13 and 219 respondents who belonged to the age of 14-15, regardless of sex and income bracket. On the result of the socio-economic status, there were 29 respondents who were in the income bracket of 20.000 - below 70 in the income bracket of 21-30,000 ; 77 respondents in the family income bracket of 3-40.000 and 128 respondents in the family income of 40,0000 - above. 2) The general level of psychosocial adjustment of the respondent was grouped according to sex and age. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the findings of the study it was concluded that the respondents had moderately healthy psychosocial adjustment as affected by marital separation. gender and age ha no relation on the psychosocial adjustment of the respondents. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) To the guidance counselor, they should conduct and supervise a special seminar on marital separation. They should give more emphasis on improving child relationship. 2) To the parents, they should go and attend seminars so they can prevent this issue from happening in real life.
